The only con to this unit is the outdoor sensor. I've had two fail. I have it under the eve of my house, not in direct sunlight. Other than that it has worked very well.

work well , projection is bright but need a dark room . I have no regret . temp prob is working well also. wish the screen is lighted at night when it was on AC power. i will still buy it again

The clock works great, the temp is cool, but you can barely see the projector display in lighted conditions. It works great in the dark, but don't count on it projecting more than 2 to 3 feet away.

Bought the La Crosse to replace a unit from a competitor that was about 4x more expensive. The unit does almost everything that the more expensive one did. It has one remote thermometer compared with three, doesn't forecast the weather and the projection is a little less bright. It's smaller size requires that it be placed a little closer to where it's normally being viewed. To be fair, the original was replaced free of charge under the lifetime warranty, taking 2-3 weeks. That was after several years use and no proof of purchase (was a gift). The La Crosse comes with a 1yr. limited warranty. Because I was impatient and the price was so little, I made the La Crosse purchase and it arrived in a couple of days. (Sent out the original after it arrived.) If it lasts as well as long as the original unit it is well worth it.

I owned the older version (536OU) of this clock for about 7 years prior to buying this one. The old model was outstanding, and finally wore out after 6 moves and continuous operation. I was looking for the same thing only newer, and I got almost what I was after in this clock. Finding a clock with this many features, at any price point, is fairly tough. The only features it lacks (that the 536OU had) is two alarms programmable for two different times; the ability to choose what the projector displays (time/temp, time only, temp only); and the option to the turn the projector off or trigger it only by hitting the Snooze buton. The advantages to this model, however, are: * Much brighter back light * Much brighter projector (but not too bright. I keep my room DARK at night, and the red light does not disturb me at all) * Vastly better buttons - bigger and easier to press/operate * Offers indoor temperature and humidity as well as outdoor temp. Set up is pretty easy if you've ever set a digital watch before. The manual is clear enough if you haven't. Setting up the sensor is easy too (follow the placement instructions, though, or it won't be accurate). I actually used the old sensor for my old model, and didn't bother with the new one that came with the clock. Within about 10 minutes the clock picked it up and has worked fine ever since. Overall, a worthy replacement for my old model and easily worth the Amazon price tag of $20 or less.

Lacrosse tec has a great product this is second one for me easy to set works in seconds ....

New alkaline batteries, main unit operated and read from remote sensor for about 5 days, then noticed the display was 'garbled', not all segments of the led images would lite up for any of the features, date/time/temp/forecast. Removed batteries for 1 hours and re-installed new (different) batteries.. no change. No response from mfr for 72 hours, so I am returning for refund via Amazon since I've only had the unit for a little over one week. I'm not up to dealing with something that has issues like this right out of the box.

Obviously you can look out the window and see whats going on outside. Yet with our new wireless weather station we are able to verify the temperature inside and out. It tells the Humidity and best of all the weather forecast will indicate the trends of the weather approaching.

Information point, does not work with older LaCrosse outdoor units but works with its (included) own. Working with older units is handy if you have already deployed older units and just want to piggy-back another indoor unit on them.

The time & Weather station is very accurate and sleek looking. Would recommend it to a friend.

Bought this product to monitor outside temperature from my indoor clock. This product works exactly as described.

I have a clock that uses this frequency for its remote sensor. My old unit went bad after about 8 years. I like the clock, which still works fine, so I was delighted to find a replacement for the sensor. I put in the batteries and reset the clock and happily, I have the outside temperature displayed again. The sensor fits fine in the old wall mounting so I didn't have to install the new one that came with it. The battery connections in the old sensor had finally corroded over the very wet winter and although I tried to clean them, it never came back to life. Still, 8 years is a good lifespan for the product. I already have two of the La Crosse wall clocks that use the 915 MHz frequency remote (both share one sensor since they use the same frequency so I already have an extra if my current one goes bad), but my kitchen clock uses this other 433 MHz frequency and I'm very pleased I could replace the sensor without having to replace the clock. It is important to be aware of what frequency your clock expects before buying a remote. LaCrosse is good about posting that information directly on the sensor. I'm a happy customer (although not so happy about our ridiculous heat!) and recommend this product for a clock that uses the 433 MHz frequency. I guess the LaCrosse weather stations also use this frequency, but it's always good to check.

My husband loved our clock with outdoor & indoor temperatures. When it stopped working, he looked for a replacement, but didn't find anything to compare. With the new sensor installed, all is working again.

Before you buy this product, make sure that the operating frequencies match you receiver. This product replaced a sensor that also measured humidity. This one does not.

great transaction! they had the exact item I wanted with a good price and fast delivery. It works perfectly.

The numbers in the display didn't all work correctly, so the item was returned for a full refund. I purchased Weathertech model FX5000, which has more features and a larger display. It works great.

Just received and really enjoy the larger display. Nice to see at a glance what it says. Easy to set up and started working right away. Only drawback is the Min/Max function button is on the back of the unit. That is okay if you set it on a table or desk, but I have mine hanging on the wall, so that makes it not so handy. I would still recommend it!

This will be a really short review as the unit stopped working only after 2 days. I liked it for that little while but wish it would last a bit more. It does have a nice uncluttered screen and a modern stainless steel look. This is going back to Amazon.

I bought this thermometer because it had a large display and modern styling. Both of these are what I got. My complaint is that the accuracy of this thermometer around freezing is not very good. My kids have a couple weather stations I got them for last christmas and when they say 32 it is freezing out. Mine will say almost 35 even though it has clearly dipped below freezing. So if you just want a general idea of temperature with a nice large display, this is the one for you. Otherwise I would seek something more accurate.

Seller took way to long to ship. The wireless outdoor thermometer only transmits less than 10 feet, the bases display is very dim and hard to read, and the backlight button is so stiff you have to hold the unit with one hand and then push the button. This is just another poorly designed, Chinese piece of junk.

Chumby one Chumby one

It's OK, has some nice features and some major shortcomings. It works well as an alarm clock as you can customize alarms as much you want and offers a variety of sounds. The available widgets vary greatly in their usefulness. It can be pretty handy to wake up to the weather. On the other hand, as a previous reviewer pointed out, the wifi reception is poor and the Chumby is very frustrating to use as an internet radio. At times it can stream music such as Pandora without problems but other times it constantly skips and freezes. The customer service responded very promptly to complaints but tried to blame the problem on interference. There are a number of complaints on the Chumby forums about weak wifi. The FM radio is worthless. I can't get a single station. The speaker is decent. It is fine for alarms and spoken broadcasts, not so much for music. The touchscreen is also rather mediocre and I occasionally have to touch the screen a few or even several times for it to register.

Chumby One is a nice toy, designed to provide snippets of the internet in a fun way. Since it's supposed to be always connected, it is very disappointing that its WiFi reception is so weak. It can't connect to a b/g router 20 feet away, and behind a wall. Nice little unit, if you keep it in the same room as your wifi router.

I received this as a gift in December and the family liked this cool internet toy. The novelty has worn off and I found that the chumby would sit in the kitchen unpowered for weeks. Nobody would bother to plug it in. So I have relocated Chumby to my office and reset to appropriate widgets. I like it here. So I think its value is more personal than as a shared item. You need to think about the user and setting before buying, which is true about any gift really. My 2 cents.

I like the graceful alarms, Internet radio, etc. Biggest problem is you can not lock it and the 2 year old messes up the configuration on an almost daily basis. Wish it had an iPhone style PIN login.

Sony Speaker Dock Clock Radio for iPod / iPhone (Black) Sony Speaker Dock Clock Radio for iPod / iPhone (Black)

Reviews

I been using it for 2 weeks and it works great!, it does everything I need! I am not a gadget freak! just a simple music lover!

For it's size, this little Sony Dream Machine iPod /iPhone alarm clock rocks. It's the best sounding iPod/iPhone speaker dock that I've heard. The sound is warm and crisp... as it should be! Compared to other docks, I think I'd rank it as medium sized. I bought it to replace my older CD radio alarm clock, and this sounds twice as good and twice as loud. If you're looking for a great sounding and affordable iPhone/iPod clock radio that lets you wake up to the music on your player, this is it! I believe it gives you great bang for your buck and it sounds much better than a fancy 'Philips' brand speaker dock that I had before (see my other reviews). I especially like that I can dock my iPhone on it without even removing it from it's iPhone case... because constantly removing your iphone case (to dock) is a big pain in the (you know what). Because it sounds so good, is easy to use, and is still pretty affordable... I had to give it a full 5 Stars. I don't normally give 5 Stars, but this thing is a winner. It is just designed well! For example, I didn't even have to set the time on it because when I placed my iPhone on it, it automatically synched the time with the Phone. Brilliant! :)

I bought this as a high school graduation gift for a female relative. She LOVES it and plans to take it to college with her. The speaker sound is great, it works with different iPods, and is nice and compact. After reading up on other reviews, I am glad I chose this item for her.

This is the most satisfied I have been with with an electronic device in a long time. Bought 6/13/10 for $89. The Sony Dream Machine clock radio really surprised me. The sound clarity, volume capability, design layout, and quality is impressive. A salesman at Frys recommended it, but was sold out. Recently, on Fathers Day, I received a Panasonic radio/CD player/ipod dock system as a gift. Weaker reception and volume.....the Sony blows it away. ~ Mark in SoCal 7/18/10~

This item has some nice features, but has one "glaring" weakness that may be a deal killer for some people. First of all, I really like the sound it puts out. Some people don't like the "Mega Expand", but I like it. Sounds fuller when it's on. The "Mega Bass" is nice, but not very strong. The alarms are easy to set and use. Again, some people have complained that the buzzer alarm (or chirping sound) is too soft and they fear that it won't wake them up. I found that it wakes me up every time, right away, and I even sleep with a big box fan roaring away next to my bed (for white noise), so for most people, I don't think this will be a problem. The unit charges, plays, and controls my ipod (1st generation iopd touch) just fine, and the remote is easy to use also. Both AM and FM radio functions work very well. I live in the boondocks, far from any big city, and I can pull in many stations. The manual says there are three brightness levels for the LCD clock face: high, medium, and low. This isn't true, as your actual levels are: high, medium, and OFF (as in completely off). This leads to the one, big glaring weakness that this unit has. The medium clock face setting is WAY too bright to be used as a bedside alarm clock. It lights up the room. While some people can sleep with it, many people can't. If you turn off the display, it defeats the whole purpose of having a bedside alarm clock that you can glance at in the middle of the night to see what time it is. I wish manufacturers would get it through their heads that their LCD displays are way too bright for a lot of people, but so many of them still don't get it. Too bad. If Sony would only fix this problem, this Dream Machine would be a winner.

I read all the instructions, and STILL can't get the outdoor sensor to work, no matter what channel I set both of them on. Don't waste your $10.

Internal / external temperature provide the needed information. There is a slight difference between the two temperatures (external sensor 0.8 degree higher). The external sensor range is limited when going thru an external wall. When placed within 1foot of the external wall I had no problem placing the display anywhere in the adjacent room. However when the sensor was 9 foot away (next fence post) the display would loose contact when the window blinds are dropped or if the display was not lined up with sensor thru the window.

I couldnt believe the cheap price. I think shipping was more than the unit. Keeps perfect temperature and the atomic clock is so cool. I have it next to bed so I always know the temp in the room, outside, and I know what time it is. Great product.

At $10 (the price on Amazon June 2010) this is well worth the price. I purchased this to replace an older Oregon Scientific indoor/outdoor unit that had operated for about eight years and then the receiver unit stopped receiving from the remotes. The previous unit was about $30 without the clock feature. Complaints about the freeze alarm are easily solved by changing channel. If the unit works for two or three years, I will be happy at this price. One negative is the location of the alarm button on the front. I tend to depress it when clearing the high/low memory and the alarm is set unintentionally. Another negative that is not critical for most people is the inability to use the older Oregon Scientific remotes with the new receiver. But for $20 you can get two complete units so you have two remotes and a spare receiver.

It's on sale because it isn't very good and it's not accurate (compared to more expensive units), but for me that's OK because it's not that serious. For the price and what it does, it's hard to complain. So it's off 2 or 3 degrees........I just want a general idea of what to expect when I go outside - - more than likely it's going to be hot in the summer. So what if it's off. It's $11.00 Where else can you find a wireless outdoor thermometer at this price? I couldn't even find a sensor at this price. For me it works and I like it.

We ordered one of these weather stations so we could have a general idea of the current and general weather outlook when staying at our condo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (weather forecasts there in Spanish aren't very helpful to us!). This unit does receive atomic clock signals from Boulder, Colorado, and the internal barometer is able to predict the likelihood of precipitation in the next 12-24 hours. We have been very satisfied with this weather station, and ordered another for our home in the US, where we use the outdoor transmitter as well, and everything works as it should and is easy to understand. And--what we didn't know until very recently (by accident)--this thing even has an alarm clock you can set. Very useful in our daily lives :)

It is working fine now but it was frustrating to set up. I had problems with the remote sensor and had to try three different batteries before the "low battery" icon went off and the indoor sensor would read the remote. The one time I tried to use the memory, the unit froze and I had to reset it by taking the batteries out and putting them back in. However, I think that once you get it working and leave it alone, it works fine and provides a lot of useful information.

everything works well, but it does not have a light so how can I read it when it is dark? I would recommend this for anyone that wants to know the temp in, out and the humidity!

I've used Oregon Scientific and other brands of wireless thermometers since they became available to the public, and this particular model is an Edsel that should be recalled. The design of the battery cover on the remote thermometer can quickly render the product useless the first time you have to replace the batteries (and it does eat up batteries). The two bottom screws on the cover are tiny, very fragile and recessed much further than previous models. Most people don't have the necessary screw driver to begin with, and even then it is easy to strip the head of the screws, making the cover impossible to remove. I have three of the remote thermometers, by the way, and their range does not meet advertised claims. Accuracy can also be a real issue if you are relying on it to monitor a water heater closet, plant nursery or, God forbid, a baby nursery. Sometimes they just stop working for an hour at a time for no apparent reason. The receiver is little better. It requires frequent resetting, goes through batteries too quickly, the Atomic Clock is iffy, etc., etc., etc. I bought this model to replace a far cheaper, 10-year-old Oregon Scientific thermometer that once kept working while lying in flood waters for two days. The signal on this latest model can be interrupted by a napping lizard (sic). Wish I could recommend another brand but haven't had a chance to shop around because I am still trying to at least get a fraction of my money's worth on this grossly overpriced unit.

I bought this weather station to replace an older unit thta seemed to be failing. It arrived quicker than I was told and worked just fine out of the box.It uses the same outdoor sensor as the older unit, so I had outdoor temperature and humidity as soon as the batteries were installed. It acquired WWV quite rapidly. Of course the older unit now works much better, apparently sensing competition. Each unit, however, has its own view of the barometric pressure. Neither quite matches the Weather Service numbers. However, this is no big deal. I called the Oregon Scientific Technical Support number and was told neither unit was adjustable. But, the numbers seemed to be within the expected margin of accuracy. Whatever . . The weather forecast icon is a bit of a joke. Quite often, the icon represents quite a different view of the actual weather seen out of my window! Again, whatever . . I do wish it had a back light so I can see it in darker times. Otherwise, it's good enough for the price.
