La Crosse Technology WT-5120U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor TemperatureReviewsWe have had projection alarm clocks for many years. This one is the best so far. The outdoor temperature feature seems silly but we both enjoy seeing it in the middle of the night. This item is smaller than expected.. construction feels very light and cheap. However the projection works good and I really like the outdoor censor. don't even bother, material is cheap and not worth it I would gone to the movies with what I spent on this thing and it would be more fun. We love this clock. I wish you could turn off the temperature reading and simply do the clock but overall, very happy. While you can't be too visually impaired to read this clock, the size of the projected display can, to some extent, be adjusted, though like everyone says it could be brighter - your bedroom has to be quite dark to see it well. I love watching the outdoor temperature progression through the night, it's nice having one clock that two people can easily read, and I like that the time is synchronized with the Denver atomic clock. La Crosse Technology WS-7014CH-IT Wireless Weather StationReviewsKnowing the weather, both current conditions and forecast, is helpful for planning purposes. Most people turn to their television set or to the internet to get this information, but the LaCrosse Technology Wireless Forecast Station offers an alternative. This device sits on a table or desk, or can be wall- mounted. It displays the indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, time, date, and forecast for the coming day. While knowing about the weather can be useful, the LaCrosse Technology Wireless Forecast Station has its share of issues. Looking at the pros first, I like the easy to read LCD display, the accuracy of the time, which is taken directly from the official Atomic Clock, and the useful information regarding indoor temps, outdoor temp, humidity, etc. The unit has a nice appearance, too, and it looks good on most any desktop. The display is made even more interesting by the use of the forecast symbols and the flashing rays of the sun or flashing streaks of rain. This might seem like a distraction, but only a few lines flash, so you don't even notice unless you look straight at the display. On the negative side, the LaCrosse Technology Wireless Forecast Station has a few flaws that cannot be overlooked and chief among them is the accuracy of the forecast. The manufacturer admits that the forecast is only 75 percent accurate, which isn't very good. Keep in mind that this forecast is supposed to be for the next twelve hours- not the next several days. Given the closeness of the time frame, I expect better accuracy than this. Other issues are less significant, but still bear mentioning. First, the unit is rather light and that means it is very easy to accidentally knock it off your desk. Second, there is the fact that four AA batteries are required for operation. Both the base unit and the sensor need a pair of batteries to function. The batteries last for a while, but you always have to be on the lookout for a fading screen or other signs that the batteries are near the end of their life. I like knowing about the weather conditions and the LaCrosse Technology Wireless Forecast Station is a nice novelty item with some good information to share about the weather. I like the accurate time, the LCD display, and other features but this unit is not without its faults, the worst of which is the unreliable weather forecast. I will continue to keep it on my desktop and consult it every now and then when I am curious about the weather, but the unreliable accuracy of the forecast and other faults convince me to rate this device only average overall. This is a newer version of a weather station that served me well for a dozen years. In fact, that older weather station still works, but the outdoor sender died. So, I thought I would order this model, and its sender would feed data to both the old indoor unit and this new indoor unit. Great theory, as the picture on Amazon has 433mhz clearly stamped on the front of the indoor unit. But that is incorrect. This unit comes with the 915mhz sender, as the text describing the unit clearly states. But rather than send it back, I kept it because it works so well and looks so good and is priced so low, as these things go. The old unit went into a drawer as I hate to throw away anything that still works. This item was too narrow in viewing for our choice. We really had to view closely to read and not be distracted by the frame. Of course, us old folks like to see the "big picture" on everything! This was my first product from LaCrosse Technology, and am completely satisfied. I'm a weather bug and have been for 50 years, and I watch what type of products I purchase and from whom. This item looks like the picture. However, my husband did not like it because he thought that the numbers were too small to read. (without glasses) Average Rating:![]() |

Bushnell 950003 WeatherFX 3 Day Weather ForecasterReviewsThis product is very easy to use, it links up with the connection instantly. It does not have a great deal of contrast to it is difficult to see in some lighting situations. I think it should have more cities as well to choose from. Overall a good product Excellent product. I use it every day and love it. It is clear and accurate. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes to prepare for tomorrow. I gave this to my parents for Christmas, and they love it! They can check the weather at any time! Our 3 day Weather FX works really well with a few caveats that are minor to us. I had checked out our city (Tampa), to make sure it was on the coverage list before purchasing. It was super easy to set up and I particularly liked that it didn't have to be linked to our computer in any way. It is great to not have to get the computer up and running to check the forecast for the next day. We have had two issues I consider small. One day for a few hours the tempuratures were registering at -9 degrees, when it was in the 50's. We checked other cities and they all were off. My guess would be the Weather center had emitted improper data with a computer glitch or something, but it was soon corrected on its own. The other issue, is that it gives current temperature and there are times that it is off from our outdoor gage. This could be attributed to variations in temperature around the city of Tampa, and the average temperature of Tampa being reported by our Weather FX. Still we have it on our refrigerator and find it to be super convenient and accurate. The magnet is very strong so it is not sliding down. It also has a clock that is completely accurate and set itself. If you live in one of the 150 cities covered by this device (I think the Bushnell website had the link to check), then this device is great. We are considering getting one for my husband's dad in Boston. I purchased one of these for my bedroom after having good luck with a 7-day unit that I keep in the main room of my house. This one didn't work right out of the box. It might get the time on the display, and part of the forecast - then it would reset, lose all data, and start over. It's going to cost 1/4 of the price to send it back. I'm still debating... Update: I did send it back, and received another unit doing the same thing. Ambient tech support suggested that some 3-day units in the supply chains were "problematic." That one goes back as well. Average Rating:![]() |

Bushnell 7 Day Weather Fxi StationReviewsThe item is not the problem as we have given four of these as gifts. The last one we ordered was distributed by Ace Digital Photo. They are charging a restocking fee of 10% with a 14 day return policy. The problem with the tower in the Savannah area could not be 'fixed'. Bushnell thought the problem could be corrected but could not. On Friday they asked that the product be returned. Bushnell was great ~ the product is great ~ the distributor is not. It is disappointing that this product cannot be used in the Savannah area. I tried a couple of other weather stations. They both required some type of outdoor sensor in addition to Internet connection. This Bushnell only requires connection to the Internet via your existing PC. Good points: Nice big easy to read screen with backlight. Can run on batteries or included AC adapter. Good range. I have it 60 feet from PC on totally opposite sides of the house. Gives wind direction and "real feel" Bad points: Must have PC on to get current temp. (But all else displays with PC off) I am unhappy with this product. Setup was a breeze but does not update often. This product gets it's information from Accuweather, but fails to match what the web site is displaying. Currently it is showing partly sunny and it is 9pm. Also the wind speed has been at 7 mph for three days. Bushnell 7 Day Weather Fxi Station Pro: many, many American locations and international cities, weather is frequently updated, very good-looking display, worked much better than other similar products Con: Installation Software didn't come up automatically (but very easily remedied; rest of installation was very easy, and the software worked great after that) ------------- The Weather Fxi comes in shrink wrap packaging. You cut it out of the box. There's a receiver with the screen that you see in Amazon's listing, a transmitter that plugs into a USB port on your computer, and a CD. There are instructions, but you barely need to read them. You put the CD in your computer's drive. This was the only weakness of the whole package -- my CD drive did not automatically load the program. I had to go to explorer and click on the startup program manually. It was very obvious, and it took me under 15 seconds, but some people might be a bit stalled by this. If you were expecting the program to just pop up on the screen (or if you didn't know how to start a program by using Window's explorer --that would be right click on the start button, and then scroll till you find your CD drive, and then double click on the startup program that you'll find on that drive), then I suppose you might not be able to get this to work. I do not consider this the least bit difficult; it takes 15 seconds, tops, and most everyone I know is familiar with finding programs on their disk drive, and double clicking on them. Anyway, you then plug in the transmitter to a USB port on the computer. Finally, you pick five locales to monitor. There are a LOT of cities -- my Boston suburb is on there, with a population of 30,000, as was my mother's suburb of NYC, also about the same size. My mother in law and daughter, who live in their respective cities were also there; there wasn't a way (that I saw, anyway) to further define their location, but I think that should be suficient anyway. Finally, for my son, I selected Munich, Germany. The selection process takes about 3 or 4 minutes. You have to wait for 30 seconds or so after each selection for the software to think before you can move on to the next city. That's it. We've had it for several days now, and it constantly updates, all by itself. The display screen is really good looking and detailed. There are at least 15 or 20 different symbols for the weather (clouds, rain, snow, sun, partial sun, etc.), a written statement (like "becoming cloudy and cold", the temperature, high and low, wind, precipitation, humidity, what temperature it "really" feels like, as well as the predictions or the next several days. You can press a button on one side and instead of three days forecasts, it will give you morning noon and night for today, or days four through six. You press a button on the other side, and it scrolls through complete data for the other 4 cities. If you plug it in, it stays back-lit (it runs on batteries, too, but we haven't tried that). It's extrememly easy to read. One last thing -- the screen changes colors depending on what band of 10 degrees the temperature is -- my wife loves that. So, the bottom line is that it took less than 10 minutes to set up, it takes no maintenance whatsoever, it displays international locations (very few do), and it is very sharp looking. VERY highly recommended. I love this weather station. I no longer have to go to my computer to see the day's forecast. The colored back lighting is corny, but effective (and you can turn it off). Bought it 2 weeks ago. Perfect so far. Average Rating:![]() |
