La Crosse Technology WT-5120U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor Temperature La Crosse Technology WT-5120U Projection Alarm Clock with Outdoor Temperature

The only con to this unit is the outdoor sensor. I've had two fail. I have it under the eve of my house, not in direct sunlight. Other than that it has worked very well.

work well , projection is bright but need a dark room . I have no regret . temp prob is working well also. wish the screen is lighted at night when it was on AC power. i will still buy it again

The clock works great, the temp is cool, but you can barely see the projector display in lighted conditions. It works great in the dark, but don't count on it projecting more than 2 to 3 feet away.

Bought the La Crosse to replace a unit from a competitor that was about 4x more expensive. The unit does almost everything that the more expensive one did. It has one remote thermometer compared with three, doesn't forecast the weather and the projection is a little less bright. It's smaller size requires that it be placed a little closer to where it's normally being viewed. To be fair, the original was replaced free of charge under the lifetime warranty, taking 2-3 weeks. That was after several years use and no proof of purchase (was a gift). The La Crosse comes with a 1yr. limited warranty. Because I was impatient and the price was so little, I made the La Crosse purchase and it arrived in a couple of days. (Sent out the original after it arrived.) If it lasts as well as long as the original unit it is well worth it.

I owned the older version (536OU) of this clock for about 7 years prior to buying this one. The old model was outstanding, and finally wore out after 6 moves and continuous operation. I was looking for the same thing only newer, and I got almost what I was after in this clock. Finding a clock with this many features, at any price point, is fairly tough. The only features it lacks (that the 536OU had) is two alarms programmable for two different times; the ability to choose what the projector displays (time/temp, time only, temp only); and the option to the turn the projector off or trigger it only by hitting the Snooze buton. The advantages to this model, however, are: * Much brighter back light * Much brighter projector (but not too bright. I keep my room DARK at night, and the red light does not disturb me at all) * Vastly better buttons - bigger and easier to press/operate * Offers indoor temperature and humidity as well as outdoor temp. Set up is pretty easy if you've ever set a digital watch before. The manual is clear enough if you haven't. Setting up the sensor is easy too (follow the placement instructions, though, or it won't be accurate). I actually used the old sensor for my old model, and didn't bother with the new one that came with the clock. Within about 10 minutes the clock picked it up and has worked fine ever since. Overall, a worthy replacement for my old model and easily worth the Amazon price tag of $20 or less.

Lacrosse tec has a great product this is second one for me easy to set works in seconds ....

New alkaline batteries, main unit operated and read from remote sensor for about 5 days, then noticed the display was 'garbled', not all segments of the led images would lite up for any of the features, date/time/temp/forecast. Removed batteries for 1 hours and re-installed new (different) batteries.. no change. No response from mfr for 72 hours, so I am returning for refund via Amazon since I've only had the unit for a little over one week. I'm not up to dealing with something that has issues like this right out of the box.

Obviously you can look out the window and see whats going on outside. Yet with our new wireless weather station we are able to verify the temperature inside and out. It tells the Humidity and best of all the weather forecast will indicate the trends of the weather approaching.

Information point, does not work with older LaCrosse outdoor units but works with its (included) own. Working with older units is handy if you have already deployed older units and just want to piggy-back another indoor unit on them.

The time & Weather station is very accurate and sleek looking. Would recommend it to a friend.

La Crosse Technology 9160U Digital Thermometer with Wireless Remote La Crosse Technology 9160U Digital Thermometer with Wireless Remote

Simple enough. Put in the batteries and place the units where you want them. Within minutes you have your first reading and you don't have to think about it again. I am using this to monitor the temp in my newborn's room, so I have not tested the range, but overall I am very satisfied.

Bought this to replace a failed remote thermometer which had a 30 foot wired outdoor sensor, and bright red LED numeric readout. There are no cheap replacements for a thermometer with LEDs, which can be seen in the dark from across the room, but this unit's LCD readout is large and clear. The remote sensor works fine, no issues with wires, like with my previous unit. Both indoor & outdoor temps on this La Crosse were within 1 degree of my older, calibrated thermometer, so I'm happy with that.

I selected the La Crosse unit based on a good experience with a AAA battery charger that I bought a few months ago. I was replacing a unit from Bean that died after 2 years of good service. The thermometer worked as advertised after a 5 minute unpack and installation. I read some reviews that complained about accuracy/agreement between the indoor and outdoor readings. For an inexpensive unit like this I would expect errors on the order of 1-2 degrees F. That is plenty accurate to decide whether to open the windows or go outside. That is what I wanted it for.

There are two very important things to do when setting up this product. I opened the battery compartments on both the base and the transmitter. LOAD THE BATTERIES INTO THE TRANSMITTER FIRST. Within 30 seconds you have to load the batteries into the base. Unit came right on. I set the time and within minutes the two units synched to within three tenths of a degree. I mounted the base on my wall and installed the transmitter about 30 feet away, under my carport, keeping it away from direct sun and rain. I don't expect this unit to be accurate to the degree, I just want to get an idea of the temperature outdoors. Actually, I primarily bought this thing as a clock, with the temperature readouts as a added benefit.

This thing is pretty cool. I've bought two for myself and two as gifts. All in use for 6 months with no problems. I think the most important thing is to mount the wireless remote in a location out of the wind, rain & sun. I put mine in the carport. I like being able to check the outside temperature, from inside the house, so I know how to dress before heading off to work.

diaplay has all the details you might want to know of local weather. it is updated frequently. nice product

I purchased this item as I was looking for a product that would show me the outside temperature and a little weather information when I awoke each morning. For local temperature this product includes a wireless temperature sensor which is displayed on the unit for a few seconds when the snooze button is pressed. I was hoping the temp would just always be available so one could look across the room but this is not the case. For local weather conditions this unit requires an Internet connection. Included with the unit is a small transmitter which is connected to an available port of your Ethernet router. Once connected you register your unit and select a local weather station (usually a local school or public place) then the weather for that location will periodically be pushed to the device. Across the top of the device it will cycle through morning, afternoon and evening weather summaries (high and low temp and an icon indicating sunshine, cloudy or rain). The middle will show the wind speed and direction, below that is a brief summary for the next 3 days followed by a scroll which tells you what location was selected or the local temp (if the snooze button is pressed). Overall I liked the functionality of this unit with one exception. In my house we use a baby monitor which operates on the 900MHz frequency spectrum. When the transmitter broadcasts the weather updates to the unit we heard 4 loud bursts of static through the monitor which in the middle of the night is an unwelcome distrurbance. Unfortunately for this reason we had to return it.

This item is so accurate. I have it using the wireless feature and it reaches very far too. A must have for anyone needing to know the weather.

Just purchased this item. Things that I like about it: 1.) It is the larger version measuring 7" square making it easier to read. 2.) The device is completely independent of the computer, unlike some other systems the require that your computer is on. It is a real internet gadget. Simply connect it to your ethernet system. 3.) Very easy setup. 4.) Although it only updates every 6 hours, you can force an update at any time. Since I got this item for it's forecasting ability, the 6 hour update is not unreasonable. 5.) I like the internet setup options, very helpful. Things I would like to see improved: 1.) Full time display of outside temperature as at least an option. The outside temperature is not one of the permanent displays. You can press a button to see the outside temperature or you can wait for it to appear as part of the scrolling information on the bottom of the display. 2.) Adjustable update rate. 3.) Automatic Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Night mode switch based upon the time of day. It appears that you can get them to cycle through, but I would prefer that they auto mode themselves to the time of day as well as permitting the current implementation of letting the user cycle through them if I want specific information about a time of day.

I like the way this unit gathers all the information from the internet without needing your computer running. All the important information is there. However the presentation is poor. The three day advance weather forecast is displayed in the middle, therefore there is no need to have it scroll across the bottom which is hard to read. It comes with an outside temp probe but you can not display the outside temp easily, you have to wait till it scrolls across the bottom. The daily forecast is broken up in AM PM Evening etc. However it would be nice if it changed with current time of day, but it doesn't you have to cycle through it manually. Too much scrolling and not a constant display of current conditions. It's a shame, it has all the information you would want, but just does a poor job of displaying it. I returned it.

An American Tail - Fievel Goes West An American Tail - Fievel Goes West

I watched this movie as a kid; now watching it with my own kid brings on a whole new love for it.

This movie is entertaining, and highly recommended for all. Our VHS version was worn out - the beginning had been "eaten" by a VCR, yet we still fixed it as best as we could, skipped past the crinkled intro, and loved this movie. Having a clean, sharp DVD version is wonderful.

Love this film. Brings back great memories of our childhood & hope to share it with our own family one day. This product was delivered expeditiously and in wonderful condition.

I love this movie! It's much better than the first American Tail movie. I am so glad I get to share this with my children! They have watched it almost non-stop since I received it! I wish that there were more animated movies like this one available more often!

I enjoyed all 4 movies of An American Tail on DVD. I was wondering about Fievel's Americans Tails. Fievel's American Tails is an animated television series produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblimation animation studio, Nelvana, and Universal Cartoon Studios. It aired for one season in 1992, and continued Fievel's adventures from the 1991 film An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. It should a 2-disc set, containing all 13 episodes. Disc 1 1. Fievel, the Lonesome Ranger 2. Law and Disorder 3. Little Mouse on the Prairie 4. The Gift 5. A Case of the Hiccups 6. The Legend of Mouse Hollow 7. Babysitting Blues Disc 2 8. The Lost Mother Lode 9. A Mouse Known as Zorrowitz 10. Mail Order Mayhem 11. Aunt Sophie's Visit 12. That's What Friends are For 13. Bell the Cats. Please look into releasing Fievel's American Tails on DVD, or download all 13 episodes on iTunes, Universal Pictures!

Gunvault GV2000C-STD Multi Vault Standard Gun Safe Gunvault GV2000C-STD Multi Vault Standard Gun Safe

Reviews

Material----10 Build-------10 Finish------10 Battery powered----1 The vault in my opinion is great but the mere fact that it requires 8 batteries is a real negative point for me. I thought I was buying the one w the DC power out. Otherwise I'd give it all 5 stars...

I purchased this gun vault to sit beside my bed so I could have quick easy access to my weapon if needed. Well all it takes is a quick 3 to 8 finger code and you better move your hand cause the door comes flying open to give very quick access to your weapon in times of desperate need. Construction is very solid with rather heavy gauge steel and a nicely padded interior. I only bought the standard model w/no external power adapter or interior light... just a couple of batteries and you are good to go. Programing the code is a bit tricky and it is a little temperamental to get it to remember what you programed but when it is set it works perfectly every time. If the wrong code is entered it will not let you try again for several minutes so you better keep a key handy just in case you miss the code after you get woken up in the middle of the knight by someone breaking into your home. Kimber 45ACP

Be careful installing the batteries, as there are sharp edges nearby and it's easy to cut your hand. Mine worked well for about three years and then the motor died. I think I'll look for something more reliable to replace it.

I got my GV2000 gun safe about 5 years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since then. Even though I also have a full size gun safe, this safe plays a useful role since it is far easier to access quickly. Things I like about the GV2000: 1) It has enough space for a couple of pistols to fit easily. Over the last few years, I've had several pistols rotate through this safe; but I'm currently keeping a Springfield XD(m) with a Streamlight TLR-1 light attached, a Kahr PM9, and a loaded AR-15 magazine. 2) It is easy and quick to open. Since my Kahr PM9 is my EDC gun, I get into this safe pretty much twice a day and it has always opened very easily. My wife, who also shoots, can access the GunVault easily as well. 3) It is secure enough that I don't worry about the kids getting into it. I also like that I was able to easily bolt it down to a shelf. The one thing I worry about with the GunVault is, as with any electronic device, there is always a chance of a failure; and, knowing my luck, it will happen at the worst possible time. Just a couple of days ago I tried to open the GunVault and realized that the motor had finally burned out - so now I'm in the market for a replacement. After searching for a new quick-access gun safe for the last couple of days, I'm torn between just buying another one of these or spending a bit more money and getting a V-Line safe that doesn't use batteries. Just the fact that this is one of the final 2 contenders, after the competitors have had 5 years to catch up, says a lot for how well this fits my needs. Personally, I wouldn't keep valuables in a little safe like this; but it does fill the role of keeping a pistol safely away from kids and easily accessible by me at the same time. UPDATE: I ended up buying another Gunvault and it turns out the latch was broken right out of the box... After that, I returned it and got the V-Line Hide-Away model, which is working perfectly. I would dock a star because of the apparent reliability issues, but I did get 5 years of solid use out of this so I'm leaving it as 4 stars.

Ok just got mine 2 days ago It's NOT biometric it doesn't scan fingerprints what it is though is 4 buttons under rubber protective cover for each button. You set a code which is a sequence of buttons to be pushed (think of it as an electronic combination lock). The default is press and release each button from left to right and it unlocks the door and oh the door flings open most of the time i have noticed that some times you hear it release and door doesn't shoot open there is a trick to this when it happens what i did is push the door in hold it in and enter code i will use my thumb on hand entering the code and has opened every time. This is decent if your looking to keep your guns away from kids and have fairly quick access to them it you need them. If your thinking fire protection at all i highly doubt this is for you it has holes drilled for speaker which speaker is on deluxe model.. to me this safe will be fine and will do everything i need it to do until space runs out of it which it will. for the price this is pretty decent and quick to get into.

Oh my word. Do not buy this sorry excuse for a safe. If you're not 4 years old or under, you won't be able to get your hands in this safe to even begin installation. I give you my word, don't buy this ill-designed piece of nonsense. I just hope they take it back. The layout for it was what sold me. It looked easy to just enter a code in the middle of the night without looking or thinking, but, my goodness. After installing it (kind of), I would never put my life on the line with this piece of junk. Seriously, it would be better to hide your gun within reach than to put it in this thing. It was assuredly designed by people who hardly tested it and did not think through the design at all.

I have owned this safe for almost a year. I keep it on my night stand with a loaded revolver in it. With a little practice I can open it in the dark in two seconds. It has been very reliable. I have small children and they have never been able to accidently open it. This is a great safe for someone who has little kids but still wants quick access to a handgun.

I installed this small safe under a desk in my office. I work with violent and unstable criminals from time to time and felt close access to a firearm was needed. After a year the fingerpad fell off. The adhesive used to attach the fingerpad to the electronics underneath is totally insufficient. I called and was told that I wasn't supposed to install it with the fingerpad facing down. There was nothing about that in the instructions. Where is the pad you may ask? Well the safe was installed over a trash can and it must have gone out with the trash before I noticed it was missing. Customer service was no help and did not offer me anything as compensation for this defective design. Other than this fatal flaw, it is a pretty good design.

Good unit which lites inside when you open it. A little smaller than I would have liked, but still adequate.

I just bought one of these safes and I am returning it. The safe will not open properly. I put the code in and there is clicking noise followed by nothing. When I open the safe with the key the door that is suposed to be spring-loaded will not open unless you push in on it. I guess you get what you pay for.

Chumby one Chumby one

It's OK, has some nice features and some major shortcomings. It works well as an alarm clock as you can customize alarms as much you want and offers a variety of sounds. The available widgets vary greatly in their usefulness. It can be pretty handy to wake up to the weather. On the other hand, as a previous reviewer pointed out, the wifi reception is poor and the Chumby is very frustrating to use as an internet radio. At times it can stream music such as Pandora without problems but other times it constantly skips and freezes. The customer service responded very promptly to complaints but tried to blame the problem on interference. There are a number of complaints on the Chumby forums about weak wifi. The FM radio is worthless. I can't get a single station. The speaker is decent. It is fine for alarms and spoken broadcasts, not so much for music. The touchscreen is also rather mediocre and I occasionally have to touch the screen a few or even several times for it to register.

Chumby One is a nice toy, designed to provide snippets of the internet in a fun way. Since it's supposed to be always connected, it is very disappointing that its WiFi reception is so weak. It can't connect to a b/g router 20 feet away, and behind a wall. Nice little unit, if you keep it in the same room as your wifi router.

I received this as a gift in December and the family liked this cool internet toy. The novelty has worn off and I found that the chumby would sit in the kitchen unpowered for weeks. Nobody would bother to plug it in. So I have relocated Chumby to my office and reset to appropriate widgets. I like it here. So I think its value is more personal than as a shared item. You need to think about the user and setting before buying, which is true about any gift really. My 2 cents.

I like the graceful alarms, Internet radio, etc. Biggest problem is you can not lock it and the 2 year old messes up the configuration on an almost daily basis. Wish it had an iPhone style PIN login.

P.D.Q. Bach: WTWP Classical Talkity-Talk Radio P.D.Q. Bach: WTWP Classical Talkity-Talk Radio

Reviews

Unlike 1967's Report from Hoople, the talk in this one is really annoying. Had it just been the Professor talking I would have liked it, but his co-hosts have to go. 25 minutes of good PDQ Bach tunes and 35 minutes of lame blather I couldn't even sit through once.

This is a satire of the annoying disc jockey "personalities" who are all-too-apparent on radio today. As is so often the case with this sort of satire, it mimicks what its mocking a little too closely while not providing enough in the way of humor. There are some good pieces, like the PDQ Bach folksongs, but the music faded to the background when viewed alongside the obnoxious radio personalities. Some of it, was not only annoying, but kind of poinless, like the Elvis parody. I'm a huge fan of PDQ, but this album was too much even for me.

Okay, I am not really a listener of classical radio stations, so I cannot comment on whether this send-up of classical radio stations is really fair. But, when I am trapped in a car without my IPOD, I do listen to many pop radio stations and the material on this CD with lots of annoying and stupid DJ chatter is all too familiar. But that is the problem. Listening to this CD is like watching a comedy skit that goes on and on longer than it has to. Yes I did laugh a few times at the material and the liner notes. But I cannot say this is really even "average" PDQ material, hence the below average rating.

Ok, it's not better than Citizen Kane. It's just that I played "Jocko" on this CD and had a great time doing it. I'm glad so many people reviewed and liked the recording. Elliott Forrest

Let me say at the outset that this is not my favorite PDQ Bach album. I agree with other reviewers that the PDQ Bach works themselves are somewhat less inspiring that on other albums. But there is one aspect of this album that needs to be pointed out: it is an absolutely devestating parody of what has become of classical music radio stations. More and more I find (and apparently Schickele also finds) that classical stations have become watered-down affairs, bland, inoffensive-- "relaxing" they call it. Music for people who basically don't like music very much. You know, background music that you don't have to pay much attention to or think about too much. Basically, high class muzak. This album takes that whole thing on in spades. In fact, in some sense it's really too true to be funny. I swear, the classical station in Boston must really have a "no minor keys until after 11pm" rule, and if they're not quite "all Pachelbel all the time!", they certainly play at least 33% obscure baroque works, while playing maybe 2% romantic and *zero* percent 20th century. So while the comedy on this album may not be the very best, the parody is absolutely spot-on. For that, I say "Kudos!!"

Average Rating:

As we've come to expect from Peter Schickele (aka P.D.Q Bach), this is a comedy CD based thoroughly and utterly in classical music in-jokes, puns, references, mis-hearings, etc. Here, we're in the world of a casual, presumably classical music radio show ("all Pachelbel, all the time"), with a host and two sidekicks, all of whom can't resist "witty" chitchat...
